Principles and Key Considerations in the Application of Polyacrylamide (PAM)
2025-06-25
(1) Dissolution
Polyacrylamide (PAM) must first be dissolved in water to form a solution before being introduced into the sewage system. It is not advisable to add PAM directly into the sewage.
(2) Water Quality and Temperature
The water used for dissolution should be clean and at normal temperature. It is essential to avoid exposure to strong acids, strong bases, and high salt concentrations. A water temperature below 5 °C will slow down the dissolution rate, while temperatures above 40 °C may cause polymer degradation.
(3) Solution Dosage
It is recommended that the PAM dissolution concentration be maintained within the range of 0.1% to 0.3%.
(4) Mixing Method
Stirring should be performed gently and for an appropriate duration; otherwise, excessive agitation may lead to polymer degradation, which could compromise its effectiveness.
(5) Amount of Solution Added to Sewage
There is no fixed dosage; therefore, it is advised to conduct trials by gradually adding the solution until the desired effect is achieved.
(6) Storage Conditions
PAM should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated environment, where it can remain stable for approximately two years.
